Abstract
Argues that the Protection of Workers (Retail and Age-restricted Goods and Services) (Scotland) Act 2021 should be seen as a form of political recognition as it does not introduce any new criminal offences and reduces the maximum penalties for assault, threatening and abusive behaviour towards retail workers. Considers the implications of this approach to criminal law reform.
