    Research output: Other contribution

    Abstract

This is the protocol for a parallel-group, multicentre, randomised controlled trial of pelvic floor muscle training for secondary prevention of prolapse, funded by Wellbeing of Women. Women are randomly assigned to receive one-to-one PFMT (5 physiotherapy appointments over 16 weeks) followed by Pilates-based classes (including PFMT) and a DVD for home use (intervention group), or a prolapse lifestyle advice leaflet only (control group). The primary outcome is self-report of prolapse symptoms (Pelvic Organ Prolapse – Symptom Score) at two years.
