A recent systematic review indicated that compression bandaging was an effective treatment for venous leg ulceration. The economic evaluation by Carr et al in this issue (page 243-248) suggests that a compression regimen of four-layered bandaging is resource saving, in contrast to the results of a recent randomised trial
