Abstract

Temperature tuning of the optical properties of planar PhC microcavities induced by the temperature dependence of the refractive index of the semiconductor component was studied. To this end, two-dimensional (2D) PhCs consisting of a triangular array of air holes etched in GaAs and in InP based vertical waveguides were fabricated. Two-dimensional and one-dimensional cavities were investigated in the GaAs and the InP structures.
