    Abstract

    The European Biotechnology Thematic Network Association held its annual congress, known as EuroBiotech 2014, in Lecce, Italy, during May 2014. This Special Issue of the Journal of Biotechnology comprises research papers and reviews selected from amongst the wide range of topics and advances discussed at EuroBiotech 2014. The congress included various sessions from ‘omics sciences to medical biotechnology, from pharmaceutical biotechnology to novel biomaterials and from nutrition to plant & animal biotechnology. Specific contributions from these sections were selected for this Special Issue.
