Abstract
How children interpret and understand events which involve them can have serious implications for their attendant psychological wellbeing. It is important to simultaneously consider multiple indices of appraisal in order to get an 'honest' picture of their effects. The social context is important, and may influence the extent to which person-relevant cognitions are salient.
