Abstract

The study of the penetration on welding is important for determining the load carrying capacity of a weld joint, where the emphasis is placed on relationships between various welding variables and the penetration. Specifically in aluminum welding, the influence of arc current, arc voltage welding speed on the penetration have been empirically established. In this research, a mathematical model for the prediction of penetration in butt joints of aluminum 6063-T5 using the Gas Metal Arc Welding process as a function of arc current, arc voltage and welding speed was established using a multiple linear regression method.
