Abstract
The report analyses Iraq's new anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation passed in April 2024, which criminalizes gender reassignment surgery, same-sex relations, and promotion of LGBTQIA+ rights. It argues that this legislation represents a major failure by the Iraqi government to uphold the fundamental human rights and dignity of its LGBTQIA+ community.
