Free breakfasts at Glasgow Caledonian University: An Interim Evaluation Based on User Survey and Stakeholder Interviews

Abstract

On Friday 18th November 2022, Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) gave notice that it was providing free breakfasts to students and staff, every weekday morning from Monday 21st November through until the end of February 2023. The objective of this research was to canvass user experiences in the early weeks of the initiative, with the intention of using this insight to understand impact and inform future configuration and development of the service. This research evaluation is independent of those responsible for design, delivery, and decision-making in relation to the free breakfast offer.
