Abstract
Based on extensive original research drawing upon material from radical British-born director Peter Watkins' own personal archive, this dossier sheds light on work Watkins did for Scandinavian television in the 1970s - The 70s People/70' ernes Folk (Denmark, 1974) and The Trap/Fällan (Sweden, 1975). It argues that the marginalisation Watkins experienced with these works illustrates the difficulties attendant upon the TV and film practitioner stepping out of their native cultural milieu to try to find a new 'home' for their work overseas and that this, in turn, raises critical questions about notions of media globalisation, right up to the present day.
