Abstract

Among the range of challenges facing modern governments including international and global forces seemingly outwith the range of governmental action, wicked cross-cutting policy problems, the co-existence of nation states with non-conventional actors and agents attempting to deliver stable and effective
government, the UK illustrates well the complexities of governance and territorial
politics. It is in this context that the UK can be considered as a test bed for an exploration of complex government.
