Abstract

Electrical tree growth in polymers was investigated with associated partial discharge (PD) activity and light emissions. This investigation was accomplished through the development of a highly sophisticated multi-sensory acquisition storage, processing and synchronization system. The results indicated a power series or quadratic relationship in the discharge energy values. The correlations also aided in the understanding of partial discharge degradation and breakdown in polymers.
