Abstract

The Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) is one of the Flexible A.C. Transmission System (FACTS) devices that provide direct control of the important transmission system parameters. This article describes a computer model of the UPFC suitable for MATLAB/SIMULINK studies and presents a comprehensive analysis of the UPFC when used for power flow control.
