Sustainable Subsea Microgrid: Integrating Renewables and Energy Storage for a net-zero UKCS

Project Details

Description

A phased technology development of the first subsea microgrid concept incorporating mixed sources of offshore renewable energy, different subsea energy storage technologies and furthermore could be expanded to incorporate Hydrogen production / storage. This initiative aligns with other research and industrially-led efforts using green technology for offshore net-zero production in UKCS, and specifically focusses on the design and development of the electrical network infrastructure to integrate those different green technologies together to manage/control the energy flow while operating autonomously as an offshore power community with no connections to shore.
