Description
Unlocking the huge potential of community-acquired digital images for neurovascular research sits at the heart of this proposal. The retinal repository held in high street practices across the UK are a hitherto overlooked, under-utilised resource for evaluating brain and cardiovascular health. Harnessing the vast dataset embedded within these images underpins our proposal to deliver an AI-enabled early diagnostic to detect pre-clinical brain and cardiovascular disease based on retinal neurovascular metrics. Our plan is to construct and build capacity to achieve this ambition, moving from feasibility to achievability, delivered by our multidisciplinary research team working within the unique data-rich ecosystem of NHS Scotland.
