Project Details
Description
Recently published UK stroke guidelines state that stroke survivors should participate in up to three hours of multi-disciplinary therapy five days per week. However community rehabilitation after stroke is inconsistent and time limited. This is a feasibility study of the PRACTISE intervention a 16 week personalised, goal based, rehabilitation programme (physiotherapy and occupational therapy) which aims to support participants to achieve optimal dose of rehabilitation and improve motor and functional outcomes after stroke. Participants randomised to the intervention group will receive nine therapy sessions: five initial in person, home based rehabilitation sessions (weeks 1, 2 3 and 4) and four telephone or video consultations (weeks 6, 12 and 16), a simple self-management workbook to develop skills of self management, and a personalised online rehabilitation (physiotherapy and occupational therapy) programme delivered through the Giraffe platform five times per week. Outcome measures include feasibility and clinical outcome the data from which will be used to inform a subsequent RCT of the clinical and cost effectiveness of PRACTICE.
