Muir is Tir - Adapting to coastal change on Barra and Vatersay

Project Details

Description

RC-RC addresses the challenges of coastal change for island communities, through co-created, nature-based approaches to coastal stewardship. It will have direct impacts on the participating communities in Barra and Vatersay, who aim to develop the skills and knowledge that will allow them to, manage the changing coastline, implement changes that enhance the ecology and mitigate harms associated with climate change and environmental degradation, and ensure that they have the mechanisms and networks that will allow them to influence coastal management at a local authority and national level. The co-production of a knowledge network is integral to our methodological approach as this involves building local networks that extend across the Western Isles. This will enable will other communities across the Western Isles with similar concerns to share their knowledge while learning from the practical action research taking place in Barra and Vatersay.
