Floating Solar – Site identification & Deployment Potential in Scottish Lochs

Project Details

Description

AES Solar would like to identify the potential level of deployment of floating Solar in Scotland to inform their decisions on further investment of resources to develop expertise and capabilities in the field. Factors considered to assess suitability of sites may include but not be limited to identification and characterisation of physically suitable waterbodies using GIS mapping technology, proximity to infrastructure such as electricity distribution, accessibility for construction and maintenance and proximity of electricity loads.

The outcomes will enable an assessment of the potential market size based on the total capacity that might be financially and ecologically viable. It is hoped a positive outcome would provide evidence to justify progressing to larger scale funding collaborations to explore in mοre the dεtail ecological and technical barriers and develop a physical prototype system.
