Description
The Moffat Centre is pleased to submit this proposal to fulfil Brockwell Energy Ltd requirement for the provision of services for a feasibility study and scope of use for a Visitor Centre at the North Kyle Forest, East Ayrshire.
Brockwell Energy Ltd alongside Forestry and Land Scotland wish to commission research services to help advise a feasibility study for a visitor centre to enhance the current development of the North Kyle Forest, East Ayrshire. This is a post-industrial site located within the Galloway Forestry District. It is a 4000-hectare site of former opencast coal mines, and commercial forestry containing natural and geological Sites of Special Scientific Interest. The site is being redeveloped and restored to meet a range of objectives including provision of recreation, renewable energy production and regional economic contribution.
The brief requests a feasibility and scope of use for a visitor centre within the site. The centre's purpose is to be determined as part of this study but could include but is not limited to a range of possibilities including an information hub, food and retail offering, activity centre, community centre, cultural and natural heritage
