Project Details
Description
The transition from student to qualified worker is widely recognised as being of crucial importance to the development of a worker. It is further recognised that, whilst there are commonalities, each transition has its own unique aspects, and that some crucial aspects, for example the importance of informal peer support, are not always easy to capture, so what is meant by an ‘effective transition’ will vary significantly. The consortium of HEIs that has come together to offer this proposal bring a wide range of skills and experience to this proposal, both of supporting social workers through that transition and of the context within which that transition takes place as well as undertaking research in this area.
The approach to this project in its simplest form proposes to answer three questions:
• Where are we now?
• Where do we want to be?
• What do we need to get there?
