Developing a probiotic / prebiotic water drink.

Project Details

Description

The aim of this collaborative project is to assess how different ratios of specific prebiotic fibres interact with different probiotic species - to determine what dosage of prebiotic fibres and what probiotic species in conjunction produce the most significant probiotic growth. And therein have the most theoretical impact on the health of the gut microbiome, allowing the company to develop a product with the highest potential for success. GCU will provide analysis of probiotic growth and metabolism in response to formulation types.

These findings will inform The Prebiotic Company’s development of a second product - an innovative probiotic & prebiotic fibre infused water that is supported by scientific data. This means that the Innovation Voucher and Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) will help us to identify the most suitable dosage of prebiotic fibres and the most suitable probiotic to be used in our intended second product, ‘ió probiowater’.
