A Digital Twin for Future Distribution Networks with Smart Meter Data Driven Monitoring and Control

Project Details

Description

Distribution networks are evolving towards integration of more renewable energy sources, energy storage systems, EV charging stations, Hydrogen production/usage and smart home technologies such as IoT devices, wireless power hubs and peer-to-peer energy trade. This introduces a range of new technical behaviours and challenges to the distribution network assets which will impact project life cycle phases from planning to commissioning to monitoring and control. Future distribution networks will also be pre-dominantly data-driven and will therefore utilize clouds and artificial intelligence widely in day-to-day operation.
