Research interests

Silvia's main research interests centre around interpersonal violence, from the perspective of those who are harmed and those who commit harm. She has conducted research and published in the areas of elder abuse and sex offending.

She is particularly interested in the interaction of victims and perpetrators with formal services, their help-seeking behaviours, and reasons for lack of engagement. 

She also has a recent interest in the experiences of informal supporters of victims of elder abuse. 

Other research interests are: minorities' experiences with the criminal justice system, financial abuse, and forensic risk assessment.
