Research interests

My current research and teaching interests link two main bodies of theory, knowledge and practice: Human Resource Management/Development and Public Service Management (which includes the public and 3rd sectors).  A common theme throughout my research is the role and behaviours of leaders; most recently in the fields of nursing and the changing roles of public service professionals.  I am fortunate to have a strong and wide network of international colleagues which enables me to collaborate on comparitive international research. 

A particular area of strength relates to People Security or Mitigating Insider Threat where colleagues and I research the interaction between organisational culture, leadership, line managers and HRM professionals in reducing the risk of 'employees' presenting a risk to the organisation ranging from accidental data breaches to fraud to acts of terrrorism.  This research is particularly timely given the complexity of today's socio-economic and technological enviroment.
