Personal profile

Research interests

I split my time among working with clients in private practice, lecturing and supervising doctoral students at university, and researching in applied sport psychology. My research falls mainly within the sport and exercise psychology domain with a particular emphasis on enhancing human performance in achievement settings (e.g., sport, education, business). I am especially interested in understanding how psychological factors (e.g., motivation, emotion, resilience) influence performance and well-being in sport performers. My colleagues and I examine challenge and threat motivation in sport performers from a social and biological psychology perspective. I also explore sport psychologists' experiences, perceptions of clients toward sport psychologists, and sport psychologists' effectiveness in practice. Finally, I am currently exploring topics such as meta-attention, hypoegoic states, and self-care among athletes.
