Research interests
Professor John is Director of the Moffat Centre for Travel and Tourism Business Development - the UK’s largest University based tourism consultancy and research centre.
Located in GCU, the Moffat Centre was initially endowed by the Moffat family (At Mays Travel Agency). The Moffat Centre is responsible for the production of international consumer and market research and business development consultancy and with its profits funds scholarships for students wishing to study Travel and Tourism www.moffatcentre.com). Since 1999 over £1,100,000 worth of scholarships have been awarded to students wishing to study tourism and allied areas at undergraduate and post graduate levels.
Professor Lennon has undertaken over 500 tourism and travel projects in over 35 nations, including major projects on behalf of private sector and public sector clients in Norway, Denmark, Malawi, Singapore, Canada, Lithuania, the Caribbean, South Africa, the South Pacific.
Professor Lennon is a Specialist Policy Advisor to the National Tourism Organisation; VisitScotland and a Non-Executive Director of Historic Scotland. He is the author of five books and over 80 articles and numerous reports on the travel and tourism industry.
