Hamid Homatash is the Deputy Head of the Department of Computer Science at Glasgow Caledonian University, where he provides strategic leadership across teaching, research, and industry engagement. He plays a central role in shaping departmental direction, driving innovation in curriculum design, and fostering a high-performing academic environment that prioritises real-world impact and student success. 

Bringing over a decade of professional experience in the games industry, Hamid combines academic excellence with commercial expertise. Since 2010, he has led and contributed to the development of successful games, including standout projects such as Monster Legacy, which earned a Scottish BAFTA nomination, and internationally recognised titles such as Angry Birds Pop! This strong industry grounding continues to inform his teaching, research, and collaborative work. 

His research and project portfolio is highly interdisciplinary, spanning virtual reality, applied game technologies, and industry-focused innovation. He has contributed to and secured funded collaborations with organisations such as the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN), and European partners. He is also actively involved with the UK Games Fund, supporting emerging studios through mentorship, funding pathways, and the development of commercially viable products.
