Personal profile

Profile

BEng (Hons) Salf, PhD Glas, PgCAP Glas, PgC (Research) GlasCal, CEng, MIET, MInstMC, FIES, SFHEA.

My professional career started in the aerospace industry, with early experience in developing maintenance schedules for aircraft conversions, flight test for new aircraft and then modelling and simulation of flight systems, eventually specialising in real time model development for design, analysis and verification; and leading a small team of flight system engineers during system detailed design.

I then returned to academia as a researcher at Glasgow University, where I also undertook a PhD in automotive control in collaboration with industrial partners, before taking on a number of roles as university teacher and researcher/analyst working on projects related to nuclear safeguards monitoring.

Since 2009 I have been employed at Glasgow Caledonian University where I am currently the head of department of Engineering. I have taught on programmes related to control and instrumentation, mechanical engineering, electrical power and electronics; and also supervised PhD and masters students in each of these fields.
