Personal profile

Research interests

I am a Research Fellow and a member of the Substance Use research group and Child and Adolescent Health research programme at Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU). I am a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society and a full member of the Division of Health Psychology.

My research interests focus on reducing alcohol-related harm in different groups and I have methodological expertise in conducting systematic, scoping and rapid reviews. I am currently working on a mixed-methods study looking at neighbourhood level supply of alcohol and tobacco over time, and people's experience of the availability of alcohol and tobacco in their neighbourhoods (more info here).

Some of my recent projects include: a scoping review on men’s alcohol consumption in the context of becoming a father (funded by The Institute of Alcohol Studies), a scoping exercise of grey literature on alcohol in Scotland (funded by Scottish Health Action on Alcohol Problems) and a systematic review of alcohol interventions among LGBT+ adults.

I have also been a co-applicant on a qualitative study looking at ways to improve alcohol services for LGBT+ people in Scotland (funded by Scottish Health Action on Alcohol Problems) and another exploring the impact of Minimum Unit Pricing on homeless and street drinkers (funded by CSO).

I am co-chair of the GCU Health & Life Sciences Early Career Research Network, which represents early career researchers across the school and helps to improve their academic skills through a tailored seminar programme.

I have a PhD in Health Psychology (“Teachable moments: Potential for behaviour change among people with type 2 diabetes and their relatives”, completed in 2019, funded by ESRC), an MSc in Health Psychology and a BA (Hons) in Psychology.
