Research interests

Chioma Nwafor is a lecturer in Financial Services at Glasgow Caledonian University Scotland, United Kingdom. In this role, Chioma teaches quantitative risk modelling and banking modules. She has many years of experience training central bankers and academics in Risk-based Supervision, Risk Management, Econometrics and Financial Modelling.

She has solid skills in Quantitative Techniques using Eviews, Gretl, JMulti, Mathlab, STATA and SPSS. Chioma has led several projects, including Research and Training for Central Bankers in collaboration with the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, University of North Carolina, and Centre for Africa Policy Research and Development Scotland. Her core areas of competence include Econometrics, Quantitative Risk Modelling, Big Data and Decision Analytics, Corporate Finance, Banking and Financial Services.

She is the author of some peer-reviewed articles in academic journals. She has presented her research at both local and international conferences. Chioma's principal research interests lie in developmental finance and economics, microfinance,  poverty and inequalities, and corporate finance. 

She is the Convener of the Diaspora African Women's Support Network CIC (DAWSUN) Glasgow. And an adjunct lecturer at the London Postgraduate Credit Management College (LPCMC) and Postgraduate School for Credit and Financial Management Lagos, Nigeria. 

She holds a BSc Degree in Accountancy from the University of Nigeria and Postgraduate and Doctorate degrees in Financial Economics from the Adam Smith Business School University of Glasgow. Chioma is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy U.K. and the Institute of Credit Administration Nigeria (ICAN). She is a Licensed Broker/Dealer, Licensed Financial Analyst, and a Certified Capital Market Registrar. 

Research interests

I am interested in research that addresses the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1- No Poverty, 3- Good Health and Well-being, 7-Affordable and Clean Energy, 8-Decent Work and Economic Growth, 10-Reduced Inequality, 16-Peace and Justice Strong institutions.
