Personal profile

Research interests

I have 8 years research experience in the fields of renewable energy integration to power grids and high voltage direct current transmission (HVDC). Before joining GCU, I was with Alexandria University as a teaching assistant (2007-2012), Spiretronic LLC as a p.t. research engineer (2010-2014), and with the University of Strathclyde as a Ph.D. candidate then postdoctoral research associate (2013-2017). The diversity of academic and engineering experience gained over this period allowed me to engage with different technologies and concepts of high importance to the development of 'smarter' future power grids.

Specific research interests:

- Medium and high voltage DC transmission systems (MVDC and HVDC

- Dense power DC-DC and DC-AC power electronics converters

- Grid integration of wind and solar energy systems

- Dynamics and control of power systems operation
