Personal profile

Research interests

Alejandro is a determined multidisciplinary researcher who feels passionate for Nature and takes joy in learning. His research interests focus on plant-soil-atmosphere interactions, soil & water bioengineering, eco-hydrology, Nature-based Solutions against natural hazards, sustaianable farming, and the development of simple numerical tools to answer complex environmental questions.

Alejandro is a Lecturer in Nature-based solutions (Geotechnical) & Hydrogeological modelling at the Department of Civil Engineering & Environmental Management. He also teaches in Water Resource Management, GIS, Fluid and Soil Mechanics. Alejandro has a comprehensive understanding of environmental issues and has a diverse technical skillset. He has collaborated in several multidisciplinary, international projects (e.g., Horizon 2020, Erasmus +), and he currently leads an open-air laboratory in NE Scotland where multiple innovative NbS for landslides & erosion are being tested. Alejandro also enjoys editing and reviewing for high-rank scienctific journals.
