In February 2023, the Night Time Industries Association commissioned the Night Time Economy Report to understand the economic and cultural significance of the night-time economy. The report highlighted the importance of supporting local businesses to rebuild following the negative economic impacts of the pandemic and cost-of-living crisis. In light of this, local organisations must form robust partnerships with businesses and one another to successfully support and boost the night-time economy. Through sharing and engaging with best practice across the public and private sectors, staff can work to generate a successful and safe night-time economy. The total number of night-time workers fell from 9.5 million in 2016 to 8.7 million in 2022, according to the Office for National Statistics The night-time economy contributed £93.7 billion to the UK economy in 2021 according to the 2023 Night Time Economy Report The cost-of-living crisis has meant that more than three quarters of people in the UK are going on fewer late nights out, according to Rekom UK
