Description
Co-organiser of the Workshop "Socially Sustainable Public Procurement" (together with Prof Dr Detlef Sack). The workshop was organised within the framework of a comparative research project on the strategic use of public procurement in Germany, Great Britain, and the Netherlands currently conducted at the University of Bielefeld. The project was financed by the Hans-Böckler Stiftung. The aim of the workshop was to bring together researchers working on different topics related to the strategic use of procurement, to take stock of current developments in theoretical as well as empirical perspective, and to provide an opportunity to engage in interdisciplinary exchange on the topic. Combining insights from different fields and disciplines of research, the topics of this workshop included different perspectives on the strategic use of public procurement, ranging from contributions on the legal regulations and implementation at national and subnational level in different countries, including but not limited to social value, social criteria relating to (among others) wage levels, the promotion of gender equality, and compliance with ILO Core Labour Standards as well as the participation of SMEs.
