Description
Join us for a lunchtime presentation hosted by ICE ECN London, featuring Professor Slobodan Mickovski from Glasgow Caledonian University. Professor Mickovski will present the cutting-edge advancements in soil bioengineering as a solution to climate change challenges. In the realm of sustainable development, combating climate change stands as a one of the most important objectives. With a specific focus on strengthening infrastructure resilience against climate-related hazards and natural disasters, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) emphasise the urgency of this task. Historically, research efforts have centred on understanding the stabilising influence of vegetation on soil. Meanwhile, industry practices have leaned towards empirical approaches in crafting nature-based solutions.
This presentation aims to bridge the gap between scientific insights and technical applications of soil bioengineering. Professor Mickovski will propose comprehensive guidelines for managing soil bioengineering projects, aligning them with the objectives of climate change mitigation and UN SDG achievement.
