The Voices Within Research project aims to understand the economic impact of the COVID-19 global pandemic on Africans living in Scotland. The research provided an opportunity to get input from broad perspectives and voices representing the current lived experiences of Africans. The study was anchored on six key dimensions of Socioeconomic Status that are key drivers of poverty - Education, Employment, Income, Wealth Accumulation, Housing Conditions and Debt. These dimensions allowed us to explore the economic realities of Africans in Scotland. Our exploratory data analysis highlights four pathways to poverty for our sample population, including labor market imperfections, severe personal debt burden, weak financial resilience (mono-income dependence) and housing costs-induced poverty.
