Abstract

This paper presents the results of exploratory work carried out to determine the performanceNo-fines concrete (NFC) is an open textured cellular concrete obtained by eliminating either fines or sand from the normal concrete mix. The alleged advantages of this type of light weight porous concrete include its lower cement content (resulting in lower cost), lower density, lower thermal conductivity, no segregation and, better insulating characteristics, than conventional concrete. This paper presents the results of exploratory work carried out to determine the performance characteristics of NFC as used in social housing units.
