Research interests

Dr Karen Lorimer (BA (Hons), MPhil, PhD, PGCAP, FHEA) is a Senior Research Fellow in Public Health in the School of Health & Life Sciences.  She is a medical sociologist, interested in sexual health, sexual wellbeing, masculinities and gender-based violence.

Karen is an active member of the Sexual Health and Blood Borne Virus Research Group and the Justice, Violence and Gender Research Group. She is a member of the Scottish Parliament Cross-Party Group on Sexual Health and Blood Borne Viruses, and is a member of the Scottish Government's National Monitoring and Research Group (NMRG).  

She runs the Sexual Health Research Network, and twitter @SHRN_UK with a popular podcast series and has her own site www.karenlorimer.com  @KLO_12

Karen completed the PGCert in Academic Practice in 2008 and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She is now alumni of both the Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE) Young Academy of Scotland (2011-2016) and Global Young Academy (2013-2018).
