Research interests

I joined GCU in 2019 where I work as a Postgraduate Researcher primarily in the field of alcohol. I am currently a member of the Substance use and misuse research group at GCU.

My primary reserch interests focus on the use of psychological theories to promote behaviour change and how biopsychosocial factors act as barriers and motivators for behaviour change.

I completed a P.h.D (Teachable moments: Potential for behaviour change among people with type 2 diabetes and their relatives) at University of Stirling in 2019, an M.S.c in Health Psychology in 2013 and a B.A.s (Hons) in Psychology in 2012, both at Universtiy of Stirling. I am a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society and a full member of the Division of Health Psychology. I am also an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

I have worked on different research projects (e.g. qualitative studies, my PhD was mixed-methods, systematic reviews, scoping reviews) in different fields (e.g. alcohol, type 2 diabetes, prolapse, sustainability of interventions, postgraduate student experience, road-traffic related trauma). I have also been involved in teaching to small (e.g. seminars) and large (e.g. lectures) groups of students, supervision and mentoring.
